Make May Magic for Mum!

Working mums, stay-at-home mums, solo mums, foster mums, teenage mums, middle-aged mums, mums of many,’s the month to pay homage to them all. For our cover, we shot stunning Shore mum Amelia from Birkenhead, with her adorable eight-month-old son Lucas, at a Devonport home to create some beautiful images for this month’s magazine.

Amelia and Lucas perfectly summed up the Mother’s Day on the Shore theme for our May issue, with their gorgeous looks, bubbly personalities and oh so cute mother-son connection. Wearing some of the adorable autumn clothes from Shore City, Takapuna, Amelia and Lucas had fun being styled by Channel fashion director Claudia Renford for our shoot in late April.

We offer readers some local Mother’s Day gift inspiration in our page one gift guide. Think about what Mum would really love to receive on May 11th...and if the Porsche convertible is over-budget and Ryan Gosling is unobtainable, head out to one of our many amazing gift stores, beauty spas, clothing shops, florists or confectioners to bag something that will still make her smile on ‘Mothering Sunday’.
Ahead of this issue, Aidan Bennett managed to secure himself some time with one of New Zealand’s most prominent businessmen and charitable foundation chief, Sir Stephen Tindall. Our Q & A in this issue provides an insight into the mind of the founder of The Warehouse, who has also chosen a philanthropic path in life by helping fellow Kiwi’s through The Tindall Foundation, based here in Takapuna.
We shine a light on more Shore characters in our Shore People Q & A features. There are hundreds of people out there making our communities what they are, such as Devonport’s Alastair Fletcher whose passion in heritage, theatre and community is an asset to Devonport. Super-talented young sailor Stewart Dodson from Campbells Bay is also profiled - certainly one to watch for Amercia’s Cup teams of the future and we chat to another Shore pet owner about their beloved pooch - Mojo the pug is ultra-cute! Young writer Anna Henvest introduces us to a rising rap star from right here in Mairangi Bay, Randa, who is breaking down boundaries and making a name for himself on the music scene. We also profile several businesses that are new to the area and present some engaging contributions from our regular, knowledgable columnists.

Make the most of May on the Shore. And don’t forget to say ‘thanks Mum’!
