The Rose Centre: What's on

Revving Up for Spring at The Rose Centre

Belmont Bayswater Probus Club

The Belmont Bayswater Probus Club is a small but lively club.  They meet at 10am on the second Wednesday of the month at The Rose Centre to hear a wide range of interesting speakers and enjoy morning tea and fellowship.

The club organises visits to places of interest, this year port of Auckland, Hobsonville School, Gibbs Farm and the Hamilton Gardens.

Within the club are a number of active groups, including a book group for our keen readers, a garden group who focus on garden visits from September through to May. During the winter months our writing group gather to offer each other help and encouragement in their writing. The theatre group meet at the beginning of the year to plan and book for concerts, plays, and shows throughout the year. Another  group attend the excellent Navy Band concerts at the Bruce Mason Centre. Last but not least, our lunch group meet on different days each month at a variety of local cafes and restaurants.

We welcome new members. If you would like to learn more, come along and join us for a cuppa at our open morning on Wednesday 10 September.

Murder On The Nile
Phoenix Theatre
The Rose Centre, School Road, Belmont, North Shore

Murder on the Nile, Phoenix Theatre?s latest production is proof of Agatha Christies ongoing popularity.  Set in the era of the glamorously rich, the tale takes place on a paddle ship steaming up the River Nile. Honeymooners Simon Mostyn and his socialite wife Kay find themselves pursued by Jacqueline the ex-fiancee of Simon. Being an Agatha Christie play there is of course a body found, however Murder on the Nile will leave audiences guessing to the end.

Director, Raewyn Nevin saw the official Agatha Christie company perform Murder on the Nile in 2012 and has wanted to bring the play to Auckland ever since. The season runs from 4th, 13th September, Tuesday, Saturday shows 8pm and a Sunday 2pm matinee on 7th September.
