Heritage, Holidays and Art!

 Lake House is celebrating the Auckland Heritage Festival 2014 with a number of exciting events, classes and exhibitions lined up from Friday 26 September - Sunday 12 October 2014 Here are some of our events…fun for the whole family!

Talks and Tours of Lake House's historic buildings

Enjoy an entertaining talk and tour of the historic Lake House Arts Centre and its surrounding buildings. The Lake House, an Edwardian/Victorian beauty is a Takapuna landmark and was originally a family home situated on Takapuna Beach. A fascinating history not to be missed! High Tea at Lake House

Join us at Lake House Arts Centre for a culinary experience - our London-qualified Patisserie chef will be creating some amazing scrumptious treats for this one off experience. High teas will be served on beautiful vintage linen and china cake stands in our cafe. Prepaid bookings are essential to secure a place. Heritage Open Day at Lake House

Saturday 04 October 2014 10:00AM - 3:00PM

An Open Day at Lake House Arts Centre is fun for everyone! Talks and tours around the Lake House's historic buildings, displays and exhibitions, demonstrations of heritage crafts and techniques, open artists studio's, art for sale and heritage themed art activities for the kids. FREE entry (donation to Lake House Trust Inc appreciated).

Heritage Homes – a re-imagining - Becroft Gallery

Opening Tuesday 23rd September, 5-7pm

The Harcourts Heritage Homes and Buildings of Takapuna and Milford is normally on permanent display on the upper floor of Lake House. This year, to coincide with the Auckland Heritage Festival we are re-imagining the exhibition and adding new information and stories from Lake House’s past. A floor talk and discussion from locals involved in the history of Lake House will be held on Saturday 4th October 11am - Becroft Gallery. 

 

We are now taking enrolments for our October School Holiday Art Programme! 

Monday 29 September 2014 - Friday 10 October 2014

We have a wonderful selection of art classes with all your favourites. To celebrate the Auckland Heritage Festival 2014 we have some fun heritage themed classes including: Ye Olde Milford Pirate Shippe- painting with Cath O’Brien, Fabric Art Bunting Fun with Katie Smith and Ceramic Heritage Houses with Bill Hayes.

 

Lake House Arts Centre is located on Fred Thomas Drive in Takapuna and is housed in a beautiful 19th century Edwardian/Victorian heritage building that once stood on Takapuna Beach. The Lake House has a constantly changing exhibition programme, a café with delicious homemade fare, artists studio’s and a vibrant and varied arts education programme with  something for every member of the family, including weekend workshops, after school classes, holiday programmes and adult daytime classes. 

Lake House is open 9:30am – 4pm Monday to Friday and 10am – 3pm Saturday and Sunday. Closed on public holidays.
