Bringing Broadway Class to Courage!
Fans of musical theatre on the Shore are in for a real treat this month. On September 20th, the North Shore will play host to a powerful night of music filled with local talent and guest performances. The calibre of the musicians and singers involved in COURAGE will make this the musical highlight of the season. Artists include Renee Maurice who stole our hearts last year winning New Zealand’s Got Talent, and Broadway’s Jason Gotay who is making the trip from New York to headline the show. The community is encouraged to bring their family and friends for a night out at the gala, which is fundraising to support the work of the Starship Foundation.
This benefit is an opportunity for the community to come together to show their support for our nations most in need families and their children. COURAGE will be an evening of powerful music and anecdotes that portray the journeys and experiences of New Zealand families faced with the fear, pain and often the heartbreak that having a sick child can bring. The evening reflects on the strength needed for these families and the courage they must muster to fight adversity. Among others joining the headlining acts will be North Shore talent and COURAGE director Caleb Ryan, who regularly performs in NYC in the Off-Broadway and Cabaret scene, and Dilys Fong who received the Pears-Britten scholarship in 2013 to further study with New Zealand’s best singing tutors.
"It is often hard to know what to do or how we can help a family member, friend or neighbour whose life revolves around their child’s illness," says Caleb. The Starship Foundation helps provide world quality care for nearly 120,000 young patients a year as well as providing the much needed support for their families. With ticket prices starting at just $20, the community can enjoy a night of superb entertainment and help this fantastic cause, thanks to the producing team and artists who have donated their time and talent to COURAGE and the Starship Foundation.
COURAGE will be held on Saturday September 20th from 7pm at Westlake Auditorium, 30 Forrest Hill Rd, Forrest Hill. Limited tickets to the red carpet are available to meet and greet with the cast. Free parking available in the venue car park or on the street.
Tickets are available through iTicket.co.nz or by calling 0508 iTICKET (484-253).
