Market for Maddy

Five-year-old Maddy Dorrington dreams of walking on her own. The Browns Bay girl, who has Celebral Palsy and Spastic Diplegia, has a shot at achieving this dream, but it comes with a large price tag. Her Mum Gemma has therefore begun a fund-raising campaign to help her daughter receive life-changing surgery in the USA. As part of this, she has planned to hold a ‘Market Day 4 Maddy’ on Saturday 13th September.

At the East Coast Bays Leisure Centre on Bute Road in Browns Bay, there will be plenty of stalls selling new items as well as stalls selling pre-loved items. A baked goods stall will be selling homemade cakes and speciality cupcakes, with gluten, dairy and nut-free options available.
Gemma urges the community to get behind the fund-raising event. She said: “We’re really hoping to generate a good crowd of people to this and raise as much money for Maddy as we can.”
Children can bounce around on the bouncy castle and enjoy, face painting and a sausage sizzle. Sara Kidston from Cirqle Ltd will be doing a circus workshop, teaching children how to use a trapeze.  It’s also a great opportunity to get a new haircut for a bargain price - just $10 - and a nail bar will also be offering discount nail styling, with all proceeds going to Maddy’s fund.
Gemma said: “It should be a great afternoon for both kids and adults and we really hope the community can get behind us to support the 4Maddy cause by popping down to us.”
