Queens Parade Update
With all the disruption in this area due to the wharf upgrade, the businesses in the area – Peter Raos Gallery, Devonport Photolab, Art of This World and Devonport Lingerie - have all suffered a significant loss of sales. I would encourage you to remain loyal to these businesses – they are still open for business even if with all the fencing and cones it is hard to tell.
We had a meeting recently and can advise that the footpath outside these stores will be completely finished by mid-September. However, they are still quite accessible but if you think you might have difficulty, just ask one of the fluro-jacketed spotters watching the diggers/staff movements for assistance. They will be happy to help.
Plants in Barrels
The association has engaged a local gardening company, Flourish Gardens Ltd, to replant and maintain these and over the next few weeks you will see a great improvement in their appearance. Local businesses will be watering the barrels outside their premises to keep them looking attractive for our local and overseas customers, as we once again head into the Cruise Ship season.
We hope you enjoy the improvement this will make to our streetscape.
Cruise Ship Ambassadors
In an attempt to make the cruise ship passengers who get the ferry to Devonport feel really Welcome in Devonport, we are looking for some volunteers to be our Cruise Ship Ambassadors – giving a warm friendly ‘Devonport Welcome’ to them all and handing out flyers of things to do/places to go whilst the are in our little corner of the world. A good knowledge of the attractions and businesses/services available in Devonport is required. If you are interested in being part of the ‘Welcome Party Team’, please contact me.
iPad Air Competition
Just a reminder of this wonderful competition your local businesses are offering – you could win one of two iPad Airs, complete with Wifi, just by shopping in participating local businesses. The promotion finishes on Sunday 13th September, so hurry and get your entries in!
