Putting Bounce into New Community Hub

A bouncy castle and food from many cultures will be among the attractions at the new Northcote Baptist Centre as it celebrates its official opening.

The original community hall neighbouring the church building was moved on to the site in 1964 and after years of continuous use, it has made way for a new centre. Trustee of the Northcote Baptist Church Community Trust, Reg Lewthwaite, said: “The completion of this major building project serves as a celebration of the past 50 years of the church’s community service, and sets up the facilities for another 50 years of community programmes. It also helps meet the needs of the rapidly expanding congregations - both English speaking and Mandarin speaking.”

The Trust is inviting the local community to inspect the new centre on its Opening Day on Saturday 6 September. A Powhiri will open the proceedings assembling at 11.45am. The programme will continue until 3pm.

Reg said the community and kids are invited to ‘bounce into the new centre’ with a bouncy castle on site for the event, as well as more activities for kids, musical entertainment, preschool play and various food available.
