From Catwalk to Cake
It was a spectacularly sweet display of baking and sculpture at Shore City this August, when fashion and food came together for the 2014 Art of Cake Awards. With six talented ‘cakers’ stepping up to the plate, it was up to the public to make the difficult decision as to who would be walking away with the Art of Cake crown.
Reigning champion, Sondra from Sweet Bite Cakes, was back to defend her title and didn’t disappoint, taking out the top spot yet again with her sparkling, stiletto-studded creation, ‘Shine Bright’.
Each competitor also hosted a free Cake Class, sharing their top-secret cake decorating tips and tricks.
If you missed out on the sweet spectacle, check out the photos at Shore City’s Facebook page:

A New Chapter for Takapuna Library
It’s the beginning of a new chapter for the Takapuna Library as they reopen their doors following a seven-week revamp that’s given the library a stylish and spacious transformation.
Library staff are proud to see the looks of surprise and delight as library goers return to see the sensational rejuvenation of the 25 year old building.

The McKenzies Project
The McKenzies Project was established in 2011 by local investment company, Wiltshire Property Group, with a vision to revitalise the southern end of Hurstmere Rd.
The launch of the McKenzies precinct realised the first stage of this revitalisation, providing a home to fashion stores Huffer, Lana Boutique, LeJose, Lululemon & Mardee and hospitality stars The Commons, Blunderbuss, Mexico and Zomer.
The McKenzies precinct has helped increase visitor numbers to Takapuna and generated a hub for exciting fashion & music events in the central McKenzies courtyard.  The precinct also provides another important through-link towards the beach while the promenade provides a cross-link to the award winning Hurstmere Green, Jam Organic Café, Bian Sushi & Movenpick Ice Cream.
McKenzies stage 2 launched in July with the opening of Let’s Get Outside, a collaboration store between Merrell & Patagonia at 11 Hurstmere Rd.  A further 3 stores are due to open before Christmas followed by 3 more in the New Year.
It’s an exciting time for McKenzies & Takapuna so make sure you visit Takapuna Beach and be a part of the change.
