YOUR HOME with Home Fabrics
There never seems to be a more contentious area to redecorate than the Sanctum Sanctorum or, Master Bedroom. There is always that balance to achieve between too feminine, too masculine and then there is always the compromise option that invariably is uninteresting and dull.
When Bad Jelly and I were recently redecorating our bedroom windows we were confronted with floor to ceiling, wall to wall, bifold doors that left no room for conventional window coverings. These doors opened out on to the patio and flowed nicely on to the garden and steps to the lower lawn. It was important to maximize the outlook yet control the light and privacy well.
After much debate, in which my arguments were by far the most valid, we decided that the ideal solution was to use shutters and, wow, are we happy with the result!
We can tilt them slightly for privacy and light control, or open them right back to sit up in bed and admire the view.
Of course, having decided on shutters, there were then other decisions that had to be made. We wanted to use a timber, not an MDF product and from a renewable resource forest. We had to decide on the width of the louvers 65, 85, or 115mm.
Did we want flat of elliptical blades? How energy efficient would they be on cold winter nights? How good was the paint finish? What were the frame options and how would the layout be configured? These were all questions we needed to resolve.
A simple process had actually become quite complicated. Fortunately we had been selling shutters for a number of years at Home Fabrics and had been working with a manufacturer for some time who we knew makes great products. We did have to be a little patient though as delivery was 10 to 12 weeks but the end result is fantastic.
This month we are offering a special discount of 20% off our normal price for shutters. Simply phone Home Fabrics on 486 1103 to make a time for one of our consultants to call.
