After school classes for 2014…

Lake House has some fabulous after school term classes, all designed to engage your child in a fun but also educational artistic activity.

Crafty Thursdays with Emma Jansen is for younger kids (5-9yrs) to explore different art materials and have fun learning. Emma is an experienced educator with a passion for engaging children’s curiosity and imaginations. Projects for this class will include sketching, painting, collage and three dimensional art works, sometimes all at once! This class is great for confidence building in your young ones…

Kirsten Richards is an illustrator and tutor, experienced in teaching both adults and children. Her kid’s class, Pop up Monsters and Fairies Book ties in with our Picture this…exhibition in March, held to coincide with NZ Book Week. The class is for 7-14 year olds and teaches character and story development, drawing, illustration and paper techniques.
The April school holiday classes are already available on our website so get in quick with your enrolments!
We have some very exciting exhibitions scheduled for February and March – our inaugural New Graduates show Launch will open on Tuesday 18th February 5-7pm. Launch features recent graduates from tertiary art and design schools presenting works from their graduating portfolio’s. We have focused particularly on graduates with an association with the North Shore.
Telling Tales shows off talented artist Bec Robertson’s detailed and beautiful mixed media drawings of entertaining bird life parodying human behaviour. She has chosen the majestic peacock for this particular series because the quirky appearance of the bird lends itself well to experimental creative renderings.
Picture this… features work from a talented selection of children’s book illustrators, both nationally and internationally based. The exhibition opens on Tuesday, 11th March (5-7pm) and is scheduled to coincide with NZ Book Month. We will have several free activities for children to get involved in – check our website for details and dates under the Events page.
For more information on any of our services and activities please check our website www.lakehousearts.org.nz, email info@lakehousearts.org.nz or phone (09) 486 4877.
