So what's NEW in Milford this NOVEMBER!

Your monthly update from
Murray Hill, Manager of the Milford Business Association.

Milford Pirate Market Day – Saturday November 23rd
One of our most popular events is on again this month. Our Milford Pirate Market Day is on Saturday November 23rd from 9.30am to 2pm.
As usual, we will have lots of bargains with retailers and others having stalls out on the footpath. Our normal group of entertainers will be providing you with that fun atmosphere that the event is reknowned for.

Fun for the Kids (and adults!)
Kids, make sure you get dressed up as pirates as our old friend Matty the Pirate will be back to entertain you with a surprise guest this year, plus there will be lots of fun had on the bouncy pirate castle.
Our wonderful face painters will be here, one in the village square – the other in the mall to create fantastic designs. And not to be forgotten, we will have Michelle here making unique designs as she twists balloons into all sorts of different shapes as she walks around the town centre.

Live Music from Pete Ward
Pete Ward and his band will be on site outside Civic Video playing music that seems to appeal to everyone and is always popular.
There will also be a guest appearance by the outrageously entertaining Guggemussik band in a number of locations around the town centre.

Food Zone is back in Dodson Avenue
This year also sees the return of our Food Zone in Dodson Avenue. Try some deliciously different foods from experienced stallholders while you listen to the music of Pete Ward and his band, Stray Dogs. Some of the stalls are: Shaved Ice, Spanish Paella, Kettle Korn with popcorn candy and Churro Mama.

Take in the Rowing on Lake Pupuke
The event is run on the same day as the Bennett Shield rowing on Lake Pupuke and we join in with promoting the event each year. From 9am through til 5pm we run a shuttle between the event based in Sylvan Park Ave and the village square in the town centre.
The shuttle stops near the entrance to the event in Sylvan Park Ave and by the pirate ship bouncy castle in the village square and picks up and drops off approximately every 10 minutes throughout the day. Hop aboard and watch some of our future stars competing on our local jewel – Lake Pupuke!
For those that find parking a problem, we also have a parking area in the Milford Primary School grounds and will shuttle people from there to the town centre and the rowing event and back.
Make this a great family day out – there is plenty to do and see. Bring your own lunch and take it down to the rowing at the lake. Or try one of the many fine cafés that we have in Milford and treat yourself and the family.

New Kiwibank NZ Post
By the time you are reading this we will have a flash new Kiwibank NZ Post outlet. NZ Post closed on Friday November 1st and re-opens as new Kiwibank NZ Post on Wed November 6th at 9am.
A reminder that the finishing touches are being made to our new Kiwibank NZ Post premises in Milford and the branch will be closed for a few days. During the closure alternative branches are Takapuna, Browns Bay or Sunnynook Paper Plus.
We welcome back Sharon Webber as the new manager of Kiwibank Milford. She was a familiar figure in banking circles around Milford previously and a member of the innaugural Board of the Milford Village Business Association when it was formed a few years ago.
The new opening hours of Kiwibank NZ Post are: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and Saturday 9am to 1pm.

NewWorld Milford Wins Sausage Making Prize
Congratulations to the butchery team at New World Milford. In the recent national People’s Choice Award at the 2013 Devro New Zealand Sausage Competition, their Venison and Blackcurrant sausage, made with pride on the premises, won first prize in the Gourmet Sausage Section. Why not pop down there soon and try some of their award winning products. Look out for their sampling table at Pirate Market day and see why they also won the Peoples Choice Award!

See you in Milford at Pirate Market Day!
