Fine Homes Tour of Devonport

Ever fancied a peek into some of the finest properties in Devonport? Well now is your chance, and its for a good cause.
‘The Fine Homes Tour of Devonport’ is takin place on Saturday 18th october as a fund-raiser for Devonport Rotary and Alzheimer’s New Zealand Inc, and has been supported by Bayleys Real Estate Devonport, as well as many local businesses.

Event organiser Liz Brown has been delighted with the buy-in from the local community. Many North Shore businesses such as Designworx in Devonport, and Home Fabrics of Takapuna, have come forward to ‘sponsor’ homes on the tour and will use the opportunity to showcase their products and services to visiting guests. Several cafes and restaurants have also stepped up to offer specials to those people taking the tour.
Liz said: “It’s the inaugural event, which will replace the cancelled Devonport Food, Wine and Music Festival as a Devonport Rotary fund-raiser.
“The aim is to make this very community-focused and we’ve received plenty of support from the local community and businesses who have got behind the event.
Address details of the properties will be e-mailed out to participants close to the event, for security reasons, and participants will be given a starting point home to begin the tour at.
Liz said: “We want to give a whole experience to the guests on the day. It’s a full day of touring around the neighbourhood, so we thought we would involve some of the lovely cafes, restaurants and local businesses in the event too to make a really special day out to raise funds for Devonport Rotary, Alzheimer’s New Zealand and help support local businesses at the same time.”
The event will run from 9.30am to 3.30pm and will also include a fund-raising raffle with various prizes. A post-event reception will be attended by North Shore MP Maggie Barry and give organiser the chance to thank all those who have helped with this innovative tour day, for which a fund-raising target of $25,000 has been set.
Liz added: “We are hoping to sell 500 tickets to enable us to achieve our fund-raising goal. We just hope now that people will buy the tickets and support this event as much as the local businesses have.”

Tickets must be purchased in advance and can be bought in person at the Bayleys office at 83, Victoria Road in Devonport or online at www.devonportrotary.co.nz
