Go On Do It – Today!

Wow it’s the second month of 2011…already! A decade and a bit since the mighty feared y2k bug danced on our television screens, an era in which we were introduced to the i-Pod, i-Pad and where phones grew intelligence (smart phones). Think of all that has already been achieved in the two thousands?
But equally think of all that we have not done? The phone calls to old friends, the running shoes now collecting dust or that holiday that keeps slipping away. This is not to sound doom and gloom as procrastination is natural to our human race, but does it have to be?
Like many I spent part of my time on New Years day planning my future, actually that sounds far more formal than it was, but I was writing my resolutions. I pondered (not procrastinated) for some time over what my resolutions should be and concluded that they should be a personal objective, something to do in my time, an activity, something social, something that I can control. I formed a list of all I wanted to achieve in 2011; it looked great and made me feel awesome.
A month into conquering the list all feels on track and hey it’s been pretty easy but as the holiday season ends and daily routine returns I am now at risk of procrastination. How about you? Procrastination is the only thing that waits for us, the rest of life moves on and quickly those resolutions will have escaped us.
Do we justify this by saying that life is just too busy? Reality... life is always busy; there will always be deadlines and major priorities. So before those resolutions become a distant memory now is the time to act. Dust of those running shoes, act today, organise a BBQ with your friends, act today, go past the travel agent to see what your options could be, act today.
Whether it’s part of a New Year’s resolution or just something your mind’s saying you must do the hardest part to
any action is acting today, but the sooner we act the sooner it becomes routine and the sooner it becomes routine the sooner
we achieve.
So don’t let procrastination win, you be the winner by acting today.
