Spring into September...

“Spring is nature’s way of saying, "Let’s party!"  ~ Robin Williams

Spring is in the air as we go to print with this September issue and these words from the late great Robin Williams seem a fitting way to view spring this year. And there are plenty of reasons to party this month; the burgeoning dining and social scene in Takapuna and the wider Shore, Father’s Day on the first Sunday of this month, school holidays towards the end of the month, and just because it’s spring!

Not only does the Shore’s hospitality scene continue to blossom this month - we’re delighted to welcome Takapuna eateries De Dutch, Angora, and GPK to Channel this month, as well as Campbell’s Bay’s new Esplanade - so does local fashion. Our strong and beautiful cover woman Alana Clarke is the driving force behind Lana Boutique in the stylish McKenzies Precinct in Takapuna. Fresh-faced, fun but very focused, Alana is a woman making her mark on the fashion scene on the Shore and beyond, and was an ideal choice as a striking and positive cover star this month. Read about her journey into business and see more stunning shots from young up and coming Shore photography talent Kirsty Peta Stone in this issue.

We’re pleased to welcome more contributors to Channel this month, to join our growing list of knowledgable North Shore individuals who impart their thoughts and expertise to our readers each month. One of these new writers on the block is Chris Reid from The Business Engine, who has just published an autobiography, My Business Adventure, and will be offering business growth tips through Channel into 2015. Elizabeth Rutland from Molton Brown in Milford brings a new column to Channel discussing hair trends, and ‘Talking Shop’ is the new monthly contribution from Andrea Stagg, owner of gorgeous gift shop Cosi Fan Tutte, which has now expanded from Devonport with a sister store open in Birkenhead Point.

Talking of Devonport business, there are several retailers in Devonport struggling as the Ferry Building / Wharf upgrade takes place on Queens Parade, so shopping in this area would be extra specially appreciated by these businesses at present! And if you haven’t visited Devonport for a while, check out Cheltenham - we feature this gorgeous Vauxhall Road hub this month - a new favourite spot on the Shore!

Enjoy the Shore this spring.

PS: Our Karen Murrell lipstick competition last month prompted an overloaded inbox of entries! Lucky winners were:
